Part I consists of attendance at a certain amount of compulsory lectures and electives; Part II is a 9 month project in a research group at the DCB. All courses are in english.
You have the choice between two main fields of specialization: Type A specializes in chemical biology - organic chemistry and Type B specializes in material science - physical chemistry. The details of the two types can be found in the "Anhang zum Studienplan" document.
The masters thesis will be done in one of the research groups at the department of chemistry and biochemistry. The various groups and their specializations can be found here.
Qualification: Bachelor Major in Science (BSc) in Chemistry or Biochemistry. Also a Minor in Chemistry and Molecular Science of at least 60 ECTS allows you start the master's program. However, in this case up to 30 additional ECTS can be required, which are not accredited to the master studies themselves.
