Who is qualified?
Excerpt from the interview with the chemistry director of studies: What quality characteristics and skills should someone have who would like to be successful and happy in chemistry? Chemistry director of studies: This morning during coffee break I asked this question to some students of the 5th semester. The first thing they answered was: «motivation». The second: «creativity», «innovative capacity». As it happens, this is really important in chemistry, because we create our research objects very often on our own. The other sciences analyse what is already existing. Us on the other hand, create new compounds, new molecules, that exist in this form for the first time in the entire universe. Indurance is also important. And finally: Optimism. In the daily laboratory routine, optimism is important to follow the curiosity and to realize something. Because in reality it is not that 9 out of 10 experiments are successful, but rather the opposite.
