Current Research Interests
Synthesis and chemistry of superheavy elements, radionuclides for medical applications, radioanalytical chemistry, surface chemistry with positron emitters as tracers, and reconstruction of past atmospheric composition using glacier ice archives.

1985-1989: Doctoral thesis ("Heavy ion reactions of 18O, 40Ca and 44Ca with 248Cm at energies near the Coulomb barrier"), research assistant at Bern university, staff scientist at Paul Scherrer Institute.

1989-1992: Post-Doc at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, California (Gas-phase chemistry of rutherfordium and dubnium).

1992-2001: Staff scientist at Paul Scherrer Institute (Gas-phase chemistry of Seaborgium (Z=106), Bohrium (Z=107) and Hassium (Z=108)).

1994: "Fritz Strassmann Preis" awarded by the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker, Fachgruppe Nuklearchemie.
