Main research interests are palaeo atmospheric and climatic investigations using ice cores from high-mountain glaciers. Studies include the necessary field work of glacier site selection and ice coring under extreme high-altitude conditions, sample preparation, and chemical analyses applying radioisotope and stable isotope methods. Ice cores have successfully been collected and analyzed from various glaciers in the Alps, the Andes, the Altai, and the Arctic.
